Ben Franklin is a kid from Philadelphia “banished” to stay at a rural college campus where his father is a tenured professor of archeology, while his mother leaves on tour. Sulkily Ben kicks off the story moping through his summer until a magic key opens a door to The New World, and well then that’s where the story takes off.
